AUGUSTA (AP) — Records show that a company that has come under fire after MaineCare patients missed rides to appointments has received an extra $2.6 million from the state.
The Portland Press Herald reports that state documents show that Connecticut-based Coordinated Transportation Solutions received extra money from the state since February on top of its $28.3 million contract.
State officials didn’t immediately respond on Wednesday to questions about the funding.
In March, DHHS spokesman said the $1.2 million extra the company received in February was to support the volunteer network and ensure the maximum number of clients got rides.
Thousands of MaineCare patients have missed rides to appointments since Aug. 1, when Maine switched to a new transportation system.
