Several adults and youth were arrested in Windham this weekend following an underage drinking party following a prom.

According to Windham police Sgt. William Andrew, in anticipation of prom weekend for Windham and many area communities, the Windham Police Department and Windham High School, through their work with a community collaborative to address drug and alcohol use by youth, established an anonymous tip line for reporting illegal underage parties. Windham officers were assigned to an area underage drinking task force to investigate any parties. On Saturday, May 10, an anonymous tip was left that an after-prom party with alcohol was planned on Willow Drive in Windham.

With assistance from Westbrook Police Department’s Task Force, three juveniles and five adults were issued summonses, including Keith McAvoy, 45, the owner of the property who was summonsed for providing a place for underage drinking. Additionally, Samuel Manley, 19, Edward (Mike) Babbitt, 18, Corey Stevenson, 19, and Kyle Dumond, 18, were issued summonses for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. The three juveniles were also issued summonses for illegal possession of alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing.
