BRUNSWICK — In Brunswick Cal Ripken Opening Day action on Saturday, G.M. Wild downed Dick’s Sporting Goods, 10-2.
G.M. Wild pitchers, Noah Goddard, Matty Laforge, Isaiah Johnson and Scout Masse combined for 14 strikeouts, while giving up only three hits and two walks.
Defensive performers for G.M. were Liam Hemberger with a standout play ranging to his right at second base, along with a nifty 3- 1 putout by first baseman Jack Lowell to pitcher Masse.
Hits for G.M. were provided by Johnson (double) and Goddard (double), while Laforge and Trey McKenzie chipped in with a single each.
Dick’s pitchers Sam Sharpe, Andrew Chingos and Owen Richardson struck out eight with 11 walks.
Offense for Dick’s came from Richardson with a double, while Sharpe and Dalton Cooper each delivered a single.
Richardson was a defensive standout for Dick’s with a couple of putouts at home plate.
Minor Division
In Opening Day Minor Division play, Goodwin’s beat Hammond Lumber, 14-5.
Oscar Herrera pitched two scoreless innings with five strikeouts, and Luke Vazdauskas closed out the game with an efficient relief effort.
Matt Orlando (two hits, four RBIs) and Liam Driscoll (four runs scored) keyed Goodwin’s offense.
