One of the most important events in local and state government for fellow Republicans is the Maine State Republican Party Convention, held every two years. This year, the convention will be held at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26.
In Augusta on April 5, Maine Republican Party Chairman Rick Bennett announced that U.S. Sen. Rand Paul will speak at the convention on Saturday, April 26 in the early afternoon.
“I can’t think of a better national figure to speak at our convention to the issues of individual liberty and economic prosperity than Sen. Rand Paul,” said Bennett. “I admire the principles Sen. Paul stands for, and as I hear from Republicans across our state, I know that a groundswell of support for these principles is rising.”
Come join us and meet fellow Republicans from all over the state at the convention. All registered Republicans are welcome, wanted and needed in order to have representation from the various cities and towns, especially Biddeford.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
