AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine’s finance chief, who has worked for decades in various levels of state government, is retiring next month.
Republican Gov. Paul LePage said Thursday that Department and Administrative Services Commissioner Sawin Millett will step down at the end of May.
Millett says he’s decided that it’s time to cut back his busy schedule and spend more time with his family.
Millett has worked under five Maine governors throughout his career. He served in the Maine House of Representatives for six terms and led the state’s education department under Gov. James Longley and Gov. Joseph Brennan.
