The Cathedral Choir, under the direction of cathedral musician Albert Melton and accompanied by organist Randall Mullin, will sing Choral Evensong, which is a traditional Anglican service for evening, on Sunday, April 6 at 4 p.m. Largely sung, the service will include choral music by English composers Richard Ayleward, William Boyce and Thomas Attwood Walmisley. “The Sunday Night Learning Center at Oak Ridge” will be hosted regularly at Oak Ridge Bible Church, 5 Washington St., Biddeford, with sessions at 6 p.m. Ministry for all ages will be offered: Nursery for preschoolers provided by Karen Judd; The Little Lighthouse for K-6th grade taught by Janet Besso from Bible Baptist Church in Saco; Teen Group led by Peter Rumery from Oak Ridge; The Chill Zone for young adults to play video games and talk about life with Barry Judd; and two adult classes, “Learning to study the Bible” with Lisa Baker from Oak Ridge and “The Fundamentals of the Faith” taught by Bernard Johnson of Bible Baptist in Saco. All are welcome, and all questions will be answered.
“To God be the Glory,” a Lenten musical based on the life of Jesus, will be presented for the 21st year at St. Christopher Church on 1 Lilac Lane in York tonight, Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. The two-hour play features more than 150 actors, singers and backstage contributors. It was written by Rita Leroux, a parishioner of the church, and is based on scripture, chronicling the life of Jesus from the annunciation to the resurrection. The Tree of Life community memorial service will be offered at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, 293 Beach St. in Saco, for anyone who wishes to honor a loved one who has died. This interfaith service will provide an opportunity for participants to remember those who have touched their lives with a Tree of Life collage in the chapel, along with music and reflection.
