Peppe at library
Helen Peppe will speak Thursday, April 10, when the Author Speaks Series continues from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Walker Memorial Library, 810 Main St.
In an interactive presentation, Peppe, author of her memoir, “Pigs Can’t Swim,” will speak about memories and experiences.
Cote named
PWD president
The Portland Water District Board of Trustees reelected Guy Cote of Westbrook as its president at its annual March meeting. Cote is president of Sevee & Maher Engineers, where he has worked for the past 28 years. Cote has been a member of the water district board since 2009.
Other water district officers elected were Kenneth Levinsky, an educator and class adviser at Windham High School, vice president; David Kane, re-elected treasurer; and Donna Katsiaficas, re-elected clerk.
The Portland Water District is governed by a board of 11 trustees who are elected to represent the 10 member communities.
Goan on dean’s list
Keegan Goan of Westbrook has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. Goan is a member of the 2014 class.
Seniors to meet
Westbrook Senior Citizens will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, at Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St. Carolee Withie will entertain in a program called “Remembering With.”
The seniors are planning several trips. They will travel on Aug. 28 to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire for a cruise, lunch, and visit to Castle in the Clouds. Other trips being planned include Ogunquit Playhouse, Scallop Festival, a trip to New Orleans, and a Mexican cruise in January.
