“The Wedding Singer” will be performed at the STAR Theatre on April 4 at 7:30 p.m., April 5 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and April 6 at 2 p.m. The production is a romantic comedy musical based on the 1998 film. “Cinderella: The World’s Favorite Fairy Tale” will be performed at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, 142 Free St., Portland, April 11-27 with various showtimes at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and during April vacation week on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23 and 24, at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is a special re-telling with the well-known Cinderella introducing the audience to characters with similar stories from other cultures. “Bold and Brash! The Art of John Haley Bellamy” opens April 3 at Discover Portsmouth and extends through October. Discover Portsmouth is located at 10 Middle St. in Portsmouth, N.H. “Mansion as Muse: Contemporary Art at Victoria Mansion” will open April 3 at Victoria Mansion in Portland. The mansion is a historic house museum and National Historic Landmark built from 1858-60. The exhibition will remain on view through May 21 with the participating artists being Mark Dion, Dana Sherwood, Andrew Mowbray, Justin Richel and Amy Yoes. The site-specific artworks will be displayed throughout the mansion rooms. Admission is $15 for adults, $13.50 for seniors and AAA members, $5 for children ages 6-17 and free for children under 6. Scratchboard artist Bob Goudreau’s works will be on display for the month of April at Just Us Chickens Gallery. There will be an opening reception and technique demonstration on Saturday, April 5 from 2-5 p.m. Goudreau is a resident of Rochester, N.H., and was introduced to scratchboard art through a course at the University of New Hampshire. There will be a free reception at the Wells Public Library on Saturday, April 5 for the artwork exhibit of Maxine Sorokin and Henry Altmann. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon. Refreshments will be provided and the artists will answer questions. Sorokin works in postal stamp collage, silk paintings and other mixed media. Altmann works in oils, pastels and watercolor. “My Maine: The Painting of Michael J. Shape Note Singing will be held Sunday, April 6 from 1-4 p.m. at The New Church. This four-part singing tradition originated just after the American Revolution. “Cinderella” will be presented by the Maine State Ballet through April 13. In this production, 50 dancers will recreate the classic fairytale. Maine Games National Anthem auditions will be held on Saturday, April 19 at the Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston at 3 p.m. The winner of this year’s audition will perform live at the Maine Shrine Circus, in Lewiston that evening, as their first scheduled appearance. The top vocalist will have the opportunity to perform before a Portland Sea Dogs game at Hadlock Field, as well as at the 25th annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic in Biddeford in July. Additional opportunities will be added throughout the year.
