AVON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed and a third seriously injured in a head-on crash in Avon over the weekend.

The district attorney’s office says it appears as if a car driven by 26-year-old Joshua Deacon of Stoughton crossed the centerline in Harrison Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday and collided with another vehicle.

Deacon and a passenger in the other vehicle, identified as 49-year-old Tina Lachance of Brockton, died.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a Boston hospital with injuries described as life-threatening. Her name was not released.

A passing motorist came upon the scene and called Avon police.
