SACO — A delectable menu can make a special event even more special, and an elegant or creative display can also add a distinctive touch to make the day memorable.
That’s where TRUNK, a new division of Blue Elephant Innovative Events and Catering, comes in.
Blue Elephant owners Fausto Pifferrer and Reuben Bell work with a number of different facilities and vendors to create the perfect wedding reception, birthday party or other event suited to the client’s wishes.
Over the years, the two have collected a lot of unique items used for special events or for an annual Christmas decoration of a room at Portland’s Victoria Mansion.
“We have all these neat props,” said Pifferrer. “We’ve created a large arsenal of stuff.”
Bell said a clever use of an item can make a display stand out, such as wine barrels used as a base for a cocktail table or a wedding cake display.
A Victorian couch made a wedding photo stand out ”“ so much so that the picture was featured in a magazine.
Through the company’s division TRUNK, Bell and Pifferrer rent props to those looking to accent an event or party.
“It’s a more formal extension of something we were doing,” said Bell.
The two said this gives them an opportunity to get more use of the items they have in their inventory.
Pifferrer and Bell can work with clients on a number of themes, including nautical, “vintage chic” or a rustic barn theme. For example, one client was hosting a party with an Asian theme, and the room was decorated to look like an Asian restaurant in New York City.
