First Parish Church, 114 Main St., Kennebunk, will hold its eighth annual auction on Saturday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. The theme this year is based on tropical birds, “AWKTION!” Silent bidding starts March 23, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the church. AWKTION! items include parties of all kinds, schooner and sail boat cruises, vacation packages, massages and Reiki sessions, yard work, entertainment, paintings and pottery, homemade food items, donations from local businesses, gift certificates and a crawfish boil. There are items for every budget and every taste. Coffee, tea and chocolate desserts will be served. Participation in the AWKTION! is free and open to the public. Daughters of Isabella, a Catholic women’s organization, will host its March meeting on Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity Hall in Saco. Dues for the year need to be paid, and attendees will hear what is planned for the coming months.
A diocesan-wide Day of Prayer and Penance will be observed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland on Wednesday, March 12, to seek forgiveness and offer prayers for the healing of victims/survivors of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, according to a recent press statement. Bishop Deeley will celebrate Mass on the Day of Prayer and Penance at 12:15 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland.
