KENNEBUNKPORT — It’s “All Aboard” at Seashore Trolley Museum.
For those who like history, people and rail, volunteer opportunities abound at the museum, located at 195 Log Cabin Road in Kennebunkport.
“We are actively recruiting volunteers to join our museum family before our 2014 season’s opening day on May 3,” said Executive Director Sally Bates. “Our volunteers have schedules that suit their needs, meet guests from around the world, and make friends with other Seashore volunteers and members. Although we are open to the public from May through October, much of our work continues year-round.”
The museum needs streetcar operators, docents, cashiers, and people to serve in a variety of ways in its Restoration Shop, administrative offices, Buildings and Grounds Department, Track and Overhead Department, and more. Most volunteers apply their personal expertise to their work at the museum, and training programs are also in place for docents and streetcar operators.
Docent training is being offered through Biddeford Adult Education’s 2014 spring program and begins in March. Streetcar operator training is offered at the museum in May.
Those who are interested in volunteering at the Seashore Trolley Museum should email Bates at director@neerhs.org or call 967-2800, ext. 101.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
