OLD TOWN (AP) — Police have released the name of the pedestrian who was struck and killed in Old Town earlier this week.
Authorities on Thursday said 54-year-old Tamela Glenn was walking along Poplar Street when she was hit from behind by an SUV on Wednesday night.
Police tell WABI-TV she had parked her vehicle at a relative’s house and was walking to her own home when she was struck.
The driver stopped, called 911 and tried to help her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Glenn was wearing dark clothing and walking with traffic at a time of poor visibility. Although she had a head lamp on, her hood was up.
The death remains under investigation but police say charges are unlikely.
