WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — The group working on a memorial to the 100 people killed by a 2003 Rhode Island nightclub fire says that it will be built despite sluggish fundraising.

Survivors, family and friends gathered Sunday at Warwick City Hall to mark the anniversary and remember the victims of the Feb. 20, 2003 fire at The Station in West Warwick. More than 200 others were injured.

The remembrance is typically held at the site of the fire in West Warwick that broke out when pyrotechnics during a Great White show ignited flammable foam installed as soundproofing, but it is closed for construction of the memorial.
