KENNEBUNK — The Education Foundation of the Kennebunks and Arundel is inviting the community to participate in its upcoming Spelling Bee.
The 2014 Bee will be held on March 20 at 7 p.m. in the Sea Road School gymnasium in Kennebunk. Once again, Kennebunk Savings Bank has sponsored this year’s event. The registration fee is $75 per team; teams are encouraged to register as soon as possible, as space is limited.
The Spelling Bee will be organized into approximately 50 teams. Each team will consist of three members. About 7 to 9 teams will compete in a round. The winners of each round will gather for the Championship Round. At the conclusion of the Bee, the trophy will be presented to the winning team to take home and return the next year.
Each year the event has been held, it has been a sellout. Typically, more than 300 spectators come to cheer on the spellers. All proceeds from the event directly benefit the children and staff of RSU 21 through grants dispersed from the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks and Arundel.
Those interested in registering fort the 2014 Spelling Bee, or those with any other questions, can email Pam Wuerthner at pam.wuerthner@gmail.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
