After having attended the Feb. 3rd South Portland City Council meeting, and hearing the incredibly well-qualified members of our new Draft Ordinance Committee and their facilitator speak, I wanted to publicly thank them all for taking on the arduous task of drafting this new ordinance to bar tar sands from ever coming through South Portland. A huge thank-you as well to our city councilors who have persevered in their commitment to keeping the health and safety of South Portland residents at the forefront through many long and challenging meetings.

While the Keystone XL pipeline awaits federal ruling, here in South Portland city residents, city councilors, and our Draft Ordinance Committee are standing up, one by one, to set a positive, strong-minded, and determined tone for the rest of the country to witness.
