The Maine Warden Service is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Cobbosseecontee Stream (also known as the Reservoir) in West Gardiner on Sunday, Feb. 2.

According to Corp. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service, Scott Fraley, 54, of Raymond, was ice fishing with several friends when he was struck in the head by a stray bullet. Fraley was transported to Maine Medical Center in Augusta with non-life threating injuries and released.

Maine game wardens and state police troopers, as well as a marine patrol officer, canvased the area where the gun shot was heard and located a subject nearby in the woods with a rifle. The subject with the rifle, identified as Bryan Hickey, 21, of West Gardiner, is fully cooperating with the investigation. The incident remains under investigation and will be reviewed by the Kennebec County District Attorney’s Office.
