PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A police officer in Pakistan says six people have been killed in an explosion at a Sunni Islamic seminary in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

The officer, Malik Javed, says the blast Thursday night wounded 51 people. Javed says it’s unclear what caused the explosion.

The officer says there were thousands of people gathered at the seminary when the explosion occurred.
