RICHMOND — Kelsea Anair had a game-high 16 points as the Richmond High School girls basketball team broke into the win column with a 50-34 East-West Conference win over Buckfield on Tuesday.
The Bobcats led 6-5 and 22- 14 at the quarter breaks, but the Bucks (0-2) battled back to get to within four points, 29-25 after 24 minutes. Richmond outscored Buckfield 21-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
“They were nervous early, playing their first home game, and we let the lead slide down to four in the third quarter,” said Richmond coach Molly Bishop. “The kids hammered down in the fourth and figured some things out.”
Meranda Martin had eight points, six steals and seven assists for Richmond, 1-1 and slated to visit Greenville on Friday and host Machias on Saturday. Morgan Harrington added eight points.
Gabby Theriault led Buckfield with 12 points.
Richmond was eight of 20 from the foul line, while Buckfield finished four of 12.

The visiting Seahawks outscored Lisbon 31-21 in the second half to post a Mountain Valley Conference win at Lisbon Falls.
The Greyhounds, 0-2 and slated to visit Dirigo on Friday, led 13-11 after a quarter. The teams were tied, 20-20, at the half, and Boothbay (1- 0) claimed a 33-30 edge through three quarters.
Adrianna White led Lisbon with 15 points, while Katelyn Fowler had a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Morgan Crocker had a game-high 21 points for Boothbay. Sarah Durgin chipped in 12.

Tori Letarte scored 16 points as the visiting Lakers ruined the season opener for Hyde (0-1) in a Class D matchup at Bath.
Rangeley (2-0) jumped out to a 16-4 first-quarter lead, led 31-8 at the half and 45-14 after three quarters.
Seve Deery-Deraps chipped in 11 points for the victors, while Diamond Brown led Hyde with 18 points. Emma Leonard added eight.
The Phoenix host Seacoast Christian on Thursday.

Heather Kervin led the Black Raiders with 12 points as Morse fell to 0-2 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference.
Signe Ostergaard paced the Shipbuilders, who host Erskine Academy on Thursday, with 13 points. Noa Sreden chipped in seven, while Emma Harrington picked up six points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
After an 11-11 first-quarter deadlock, the Black Raiders clung to an 18-16 halftime lead. Winslow (2-0) used an 18-4 scoring advantage in the third quarter to pull away as Devin Fitzgibbons hit a pair of 3-pointers during the decisive run.
“We played a tough first half, but we struggled to put the ball in the hoop,” said Morse coach Becky Roak.
Morse was 10 of 17 at the foul line, while Winslow finished 11 of 20 at the charity stripe.
