I am extremely pleased with the victories of Donna Chapman and Bob Muir.

They both put together great campaigns, including a number of volunteers who also hoped to change the composition of the Town Council.

The council will no longer be held hostage by a group of men whose only goal appeared to be promoting the interests of themselves and their cronies, much to the detriment of the average citizen. Fairness, honesty, integrity, openness and ethical behavior will return. Rudeness, complicity, backroom deals, sexism, disrespect of public input all will be banished. I am not bashing any of the current council, although one remaining member of the former self-titled “Winds of Change” remains, and needs to be carefully watched. He knows that I have stated publicly at meetings that he is bright, detail-oriented, and adept at sorting out issues. If he can put his many talents to work in an appropriate manner, he can be a major factor in moving ahead to better times for Windham in concert with a renewed group of peers.

We need to reform several boards and committees which were stacked with the wrong people. We must restore some of the regulatory controls that were altered or removed to favor certain persons or groups. We now will have leadership we can trust to do what’s right for the town of Windham and its citizens. We also need to work very hard to prevent the sort of chaos created by the “Winds of Change” over their terms from happening again.

Secondly, we need to strive to reverse some of the poor decisions that were detrimental to most of us, and beneficial to the men who took over the council, and their friends. Finally we need to make some changes in personnel to facilitate a return to competent and ethical leadership, especially in those who provide support services for the council. We fought the good fight, but must not become complacent. The voters have spoken, and democracy prevailed! Just one man’s opinion, but I know others share it.
