To the Editor:
I support Alison Harris in her bid to represent District 6 on the Town Council.
While not a resident of the district, I firmly believe that the health and wellbeing of the downtown affects every citizen and that its responsible stewardship is vitally important to us all.
Alison is eminently qualified to assume this daunting task. Since moving to Brunswick, she has immersed herself in several volunteer activities. As a greeter at the Visitor Center, she has gained an intimate knowledge of all that Brunswick, not just the downtown, has to offer. Working with her on a People
Plus project, I got to appreciate first-hand her motivational and organizational skills. Her efforts with People Plus earned her its Volunteer of the Year award.
Alison’s career in successfully directing non-profit organizations has positioned her uniquely to navigate through the challenges of creating and managing a town budget that is strained to the limit. She is also acutely aware of the strains of annual tax increases and is dedicated to finding ways to broaden the tax base to help relieve the household burden.
Finally, Alison fully understands the issues facing Brunswick, such as the redevelopment of Brunswick Landing with new job creation, the resolution of the holdover facility impasse, and the continual challenges of owning and operating our precious downtown businesses, buildings and properties. She is eager to work collaboratively with all constituents to help resolve these and other important matters that are on the docket.
Please vote for Alison Harris in District 6.
