If you haven’t seen the very popular exhibit “Beyond the Breakers: Lighthouses, Life-Saving and the U.S. Coast Guard,” you only have a very short time to do so. It closes Monday, Oct. 14.
Replacing that exhibit will be an exhibit about nautical humor: “Going Coastal: Humor, Parody and Amusement of a Maritime Nature.”
Undoubtedly, Curator of Exhibits Chris Hall will once again work his curatorial magic to create an exhibit that will not only surprise and educate visitors, but this time make them smile broadly or perhaps even laugh out loud.
The opening reception is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. The museum is located at 243 Washington St.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
