BRUNSWICK — Eleanor Jones Harvey, senior curator of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, will present a lecture titled “The Coming Storm: The Civil War and American Art,” 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Kresge Auditorium’s Visual Arts Center at Bowdoin College.
Sponsored by the Bowdoin College Museum of Art and the Maine Historical Society, the lecture is free and open to the public.
The program is presented with an exhibit currently on display at the college’s Museum of Art, “This Mighty Scourge of War,” that brings together paintings, prints, drawings and photographs from the collection of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art highlighting the artistic response to the war.
