SCARBOROUGH — Laboratory instrumentation manufacturer Fluid Imaging Technologies recently celebrated the opening of its new corporate headquarters in Scarborough.

The new facility features a state-of-the-art new product development research and engineering laboratory and a dedicated sample testing laboratory with all manufacturing, assembly, software development and sales, marketing and customer support under one roof in 17,000 square feet of office space.

Providing more than four times more space than the company’s prior headquarters in Yarmouth, the relocation will help speed production, cut lead times and integrate the 16 new staffers who recently filled positions created to meet demand for the company’s Flow- CAM instrumentation, according to Kent Peterson, president and CEO.

“We didn’t expect to outgrow our other building as quickly as we did, but the backlog of orders and the intensity of interest in the FlowCAM from all markets all over the world demanded we expand again,” said Peterson, a “Business Leader of the Year” award recipient from Mainebiz in recognition of his global strategy for marketing the FlowCAM.

The FlowCAM imaging particle analysis system is in use on all seven continents. It automatically detects, images, measures and analyzes thousands of individual particles and microorganisms in seconds to provide more accurate data than microscopy and other particle analyzer technologies and at a faster rate.

The relocation marks the company’s fourth expansion since its founding in 1999.
