Pike Industries will resume blasting at its Spring Street quarry in Westbrook on Friday, Sept. 13, Mike Sloan, facilities manager, said Wednesday.

Since 2009, Pike has been trying to get approval to blast at the quarry. The issue has dragged on in the courts and the City Council chambers. The most recent delay involved specific language concerns in a controversial consent agreement between Pike and the city of Westbrook.

Among other things, the pact regulates when blasting can occur and how many trips trucks can make in and out of the quarry each day.
