Meetings
The Eureka Community Center Committee will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m., at the Eureka Center. New members are welcome to attend.
Selectmen meet Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m., at the town office.
CEO available
The codes enforcement officer is available on Wednesdays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25, from 5-7 p.m., at the Durham Town Office.
Supper to benefit food pantry
A bean supper will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, from 4:30-6 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge, Route 136 across from River Park. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies. Prices are $7.50 adults, $3 children ages 5-12, free for children under 5. The supper is a benefit for Lisbon Area Christian Outreach. Non-perishable food items will be collected.
Quilt show Sept. 21
The Durham Historical Society will hold its annual quilt show and bake sale to raise funds for the repair and restoration of the Old Town Hall-Union Church building, Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The society is looking for individuals interested in displaying quilts and for donations of baked goods. Contact Margaret Wentworth, 725-6935, or Rita Merrill, 319-5866. The Durham Historical Society is also looking for new members.
Friends to host benefit dinner
A pig roast harvest dinner is planned by Durham Friends, 532 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Durham, Saturday, Sept. 28, at 5:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children. Tickets at the door are $12 adults and $10 seniors.
Call 353-6354 for reservations. Proceeds will help Durham Friends support the Kakamega Orphan Project and the local LACO Food Pantry.
Community center for rent
The Durham Eureka Community Center is available to rent for small groups of 50 or less. It is appropriate for showers, birthday gatherings and meetings. For rentals, contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323, who is now in charge of the Eureka Center scheduling and rentals.
