The Times Record

BRUNSWICK

A homeowner with a soldering gun caused a small fire in his 133 Harpswell Road house about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Brunswick Fire Chief Ken Brillant said the man was working on his hot-water tank and heater when he noticed smoke in the residence.

The fire started inside a central wall and spread to the attic by the time firefighters were able to douse it. Several holes had to be cut into the walls to vent smoke and heat.

Traffic along Harpswell Road was blocked and re-routed for approximately 40 minutes during the call. Brillant said no injuries were reported. No damage estimate was available.
