MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Portland Sea Dogs (66-69) improved to 9-7 on the road this month, taking game two of the Eastern League series from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (66-69) 9-2 on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Henry Owens earned the win to improve to 3-0, going 6.2 scoreless frames on two hits, one walk and six strikeouts. He retired the final 12 batters he faced.
New Hampshire’s Marcus Stroman (8-5) took the loss, pitching just three innings on seven hits, five runs, three walks and one strikeout.
The Sea Dogs had 15 hits, receiving at least one hit from all nine starters. Shannon Wilkerson went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, capping off the scoring with a two-run triple in the ninth. Matt Spring added two hits, including a two-run double.
New Hampshire scored both of its runs in the eighth inning off Pete Ruiz. Andy Burns and Kevin Nolan had run-scoring singles with two outs. Rafael Perez closed out the win with a perfect ninth.
