BINGHAM (AP) — A small plane has crashed into a river shortly after takeoff, but the two men aboard were unhurt.
Federal and county officials say the plane went down Tuesday afternoon in the Kennebec River in Bingham.
State police spokesman Steve McCausland says the 1979 Beechcraft had just taken off from Gadabout Gaddis Airport, near the river. The plane was unable to get enough altitude and crashed into about 3 feet of water.
Police say the two men aboard were owner and Monmouth resident Ray Ayer and Wayne resident Paul Householder.
