Knight family reunion
The annual Knight family reunion was held on July 14 at the Knight family home on Methodist Road in Westbrook with Ruth Knight serving as hostess.
Those attending were Linda May Lawler of Harpswell; Cindy Knight Heikkinen, Livermore Falls; Zachary Donald, Jay; Pete and Susan Knight Petersen, North Anson; Jamie, Michelle and Reese Knight, Windham, N.H.; Michael Plaisted, Westbrook; Shawn Rackley, Framingham, Mass.; Jeffrey Plummer, Westbrook; Rebecca Knight Farnsworth, Westbrook; and Laurie Chesna, Framingham, Mass.
Ruth Knight said the Knight family were “very early settlers on the Methodist Road” and the reunion was “a wonderful day for all.”
WHS class of ’47 plans 66th
Mary McGuirk has announced recently reunion plans for the Westbrook High School class of 1947. Classmates will meet for lunch at noon on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Ocean Gardens, 390 Main St., in Gorham.

Recycling relocated
Drop-off recycling has been relocated to Pine Tree Waste facility at 594 County Road (Route 22), and Westbrook residents can take large or excess recyclables to the facility free of charge.
The site is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturdays.

Free park concert
David Good will be in concert 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Riverbank Park on Main Street.
Drouin hosting open house
Drouin Dance Center is holding an open house for its upcoming 2013-2014 class season from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday Aug. 22, at its facility at the Dana Warp Mill on Bridge Street in Westbrook.
Light refreshments will be served. The event includes tours of the 8,600-square-foot facility along with dance activities.
Prospective and current students can meet instructors, register for dance classes and purchase dancewear needed for the dance classes. The shop at the center will have a special open house sale.
Classes are offered in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater, lyrical, modern, creative movement, Irish step dance, mommy and me, and more for beginner through advanced levels.
Classes range from six-week sessions, to school-year programs, summer classes, summer camps and special events throughout the year. There are special classes for adults only, from basic beginner to advanced.
