AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine’s Public Utilities Commission is holding public hearings today at the University of Maine at Augusta — 1:30 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m — regarding “smart meters.” Proponents say they alert utilities of outages and cut costs. Opponents allege long-term health effects from radio frequencies emitted by the meters.
