BANGOR (AP) — The Bangor State Fair is getting under way for the 164th year.
The 10-day fair opens today and continues through Aug. 4.
The fair is one of the largest in Maine, drawing 60,000 to 70,000 people each year. It features a midway, animal exhibits, music, crafts, animal-pulling events, harness racing, a demolition derby and fireworks.
The Northern Maine Fair also kicks off today in Presque Isle. The fair, which was established in 1851, runs through Aug. 3.
