LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will host two descendants of a founder of the Worumbo Mill at its next meeting on July 10.
Richard Moses of Georgia, and his son, Michael Moses from Texas, are direct descendants of Oliver Moses. He was one of the three founders of the Worumbo Mill, established in Lisbon Falls nearly 150 years ago, in 1864.
Worumbo became a nationally famous brand, producing woolens of such quality that during World War II, the company earned a coveted “E” award from the Army and Navy. The company produced countless thousands of yards of woolens to be made into Navy and Army uniforms during the war.
The event is 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 10 at the MTM Center.
Former workers, Society members and guests are invited to meet the Moses family members and to share stories of the mill and its history. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
