RICHMOND
A Farmingdale man was taken to a Lewiston hospital Sunday morning after he purposefully dumped the motorcycle he was driving on U.S. Route 201 before colliding with a pickup truck that pulled in front of him.
The crash was reported at 10:54 a.m. near the KOA Campground.
Chief Deputy Brett Strout of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department said a 2005 Chevy pickup truck driven by Stephen Sadowski, 77, of Kingston, N.H., didn’t see a 2002 Honda motorcycle traveling south on Route 201 and pulled out in front of the motorcycle from the campgrounds.
The operator of the motorcycle, Jonathan Dyer, 48, of Farmingdale, “laid the bike down” in order to avoid the collision, Strout said.
Dyer was taken to Central Maine Medical Center by Gardiner Rescue with “nonincompacitiating” leg injuries, including possible broken bones, Strout said.
A hospital spokeswoman said Monday that Dyer was not listed as a patient.
