Historic New England will host the first Summerday festival at Castle Tucker 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15.
The festival includes free horse-drawn wagon rides with the wonderful Belgian horses, Ben & Bill, from Meadow Brook Farm. Wiscasset Middle School seventhgraders will demonstrate croquet on the lawn. At 2, they will perform segments of a play written and performed by the Tucker children.
Wiscasset Middle School parents and staff will sell baked goods to benefit the school. Lincoln County Historical Association will sell sandwiches and beverages to benefit the Old Jail Museum.
Admission to the grounds and rides are free. The rides are sponsored by Ames True Value Hardware & Supply. The event will be held rain or shine.
Castle Tucker was built in 1807 and lived in by one family for almost 150 years. Visitors can step back in time to the life of an upper middle class nineteenth century family on the coast of Maine.
Wealthy Wiscasset shipping broker Captain Richard Tucker Jr. purchased the house in 1858.
