FREEPORT (BDN) — A Freeport school bus carrying 17 middle school students from school struck a car just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Snow Road and Elm Street.
The bus hit the front end of the 2006 black Nissan, which was stopped at the intersection, and pushed the car into a ditch, Freeport police Lt. Susan Nourse said.
The driver of the Nissan, Caroline Rowell, 18, of Pownal, complained of pain at the scene, but no one was taken to a hospital, according to Nourse.
The driver of the 2005 bus, Gary Baker, whose age and address were not immediately available, was not charged, Nourse said.
The students were transferred to another bus and taken home.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
