SKOWHEGAN (AP) — Maine’s education commissioner is visiting Skowhegan and Canaan as part of his ongoing tour to visit schools that are deemed to have innovative education programs.

Canaan Elementary and Bloomfield Elementary in Skowhegan will be the last stops on Stephen Bowen’s Promising Practices Tour when he visits them today.

Bowen will sit in on a firstgrade reading workshop and a fifth-grade math workshop at Canaan Elementary. At Bloomfield Elementary, he’ll have lunch with the school’s civil rights team before sitting in on second- and thirdgrade workshops.
