WESTBROOK – Westbrook’s Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans’ Circle in Woodlawn Cemetery starts at 8 a.m., when members of the American Legion Posts 197 and 62 will lay wreaths on veterans graves, followed by a drum roll, firing squad volley and the playing of “Taps.” After the ceremony, legion members will move on to the Stephen W. Manchester gravesite, where Chaplain Doris Rodrigues will lead a prayer and a wreath will be placed on the site.

The Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Longfellow Street and William Clarke Drive, followed by a ceremony in Riverbank Park, which will include the performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Junie Dugas and the city band, a proclamation by Mayor Colleen Hilton, placing of the wreaths by members of the American Legion and a volley by the firing squad.
