DURHAM — Durham Historical Society members will host a community art show and bake sale Saturday, May 18, to raise money for ongoing restoration of the Union Church and Old Town Hall building.
The modest building on Route 136 just west of the veterans’ memorial and gazebo also functioned as the town’s ersatz library. At one point it was renamed to honor Maine author and global literary icon Stephen King, who was born across the river in Lisbon Falls.
The show and sale are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will feature works from local artists, as well as sweet goods from numerous local bakers.
To donate art or food, call Margaret Wentworth, 725- 6935, or Rita Merrill, 319-5866.
