BRUNSWICK — Police are investigating a domestic violence assault reported early Friday on Dunning Street.
Brunswick Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan said police went to 6 Dunning St., Apt. 3 at 5:52 a.m. for a report of a domestic argument. Allegedly, Hagan said, Joshua Garland, 19, lives at the apartment and assaulted his 25- year-old girlfriend.
Police were told he grabbed her by the throat, pushed her to the floor and “allegedly told her if she called the police he would kill her,” Hagan said.
Garland was transported to Mid Coast Hospital to be treated for what police called self-inflected hand injuries and then was expected to be taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland on charges of domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing. His bail was set at $5,000.
