A 21-year-old man who allegedly met his 15-year-old girlfriend in violation of a protective order was arrested Saturday. The girl also was arrested later in the day after she allegedly slapped her mother and threatened her father with a steak knife.

Officers went to the playground near Morse Street elementary school just after 1:30 p.m. because the teen’s mother said she saw the pair together, Freeport Police Chief Gerald Schofield said Monday.

Police arrested Michael Paskell of Auburn, who had been “ordered not to have any contact with the female juvenile,” Schofield said.

He was taken to Cumberland County Jail to await arraignment.

During the interaction, Schofield said, “The daughter began arguing with the mother and slapped or punched her in the face.”

Officers charged her with domestic violence assault and released her to the custody of her parents, but at 4:14 p.m., they were called to the family’s Desert Road home, where the teen allegedly had threatened her father with a steak knife, according to Schofield.

She was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, taken into custody and brought to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.

The teen is to be arraigned today.
