Pownal Elementary School’s Pre-Kindergarten Parent Information Night is Thursday, April 4, from 6:30-7 p.m. Pownal Elementary School has a two-year pre-kindergarten and kindergarten experience. The informational night is for parents with incoming 4-year-olds. For more information, call 688-4832.

The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, Holy Week services schedule is:
March 24, at 9 a.m., Palm Sunday service.
March 28, at 7 p.m., Maundy Thursday Service: Joint service hosted by the First Parish Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Road in Pownal. The Rev. Ray St. Pierre will
be the speaker. All are invited and bring a friend.
March 29, Good Friday, church will be open from noon-6 p.m., for a time of private prayer and meditation.

Congregational church Easter events
“The Days of Elijah” Easter Pageant will be held Sunday, March 31, at 9:30 a.m., at the First Parish Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Road. This will be a celebration of praise and worship set to music and dramatic demonstration. There will be a dessert fellowship to follow.
The church will hold an Easter Sunrise Service on March 31, at 6:15 a.m., at the peak of Bradbury Mountain, with the Rev. John Wentworth officiating. There will also be a service under the shelter at the foot of the mountain with Pastor Sandy Williams for those unable to climb (or in the First Parish Congregational Church in Pownal in case of severely inclement weather). Coffee and doughnuts will be served at the Pownal church following the service. The service is sponsored by the First Parish Congregational Church in Pownal and the First Baptist Church of Freeport. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Lenten Bible Study
at Methodist church
Every Tuesday through March 26, at 6:30 p.m., the people of the North Pownal Methodist Church will study Adam Hamilton’s “24 Hours That Changed the World.” The special program will include worship, sermons, and small-group studies that feature videos, Bible study and discussion. The study, published by Abingdon Press, was developed by Adam Hamilton, pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kan., and is intended for anyone who is interested in the Christian faith.

Heaven’s Blend
in concert April 13
The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Hallowell Road, Pownal, is hosting a concert by Heaven’s Blend on Saturday, April 13, from 6:30-8 p.m., at the church. The concert will be presented in a Coffee House format with light refreshments. Admission is free and there will be a free will offering. Proceeds benefit the church. Beans and spaghetti
The North Pownal United Methodist Church will be holding a public baked bean and spaghetti supper on Saturday, April 6, from 4:30-6 p.m. Tickets are adults $6, children 4-12 years $3, and free for 3 and under.
Royal River Conservation Trust
The organization has launched its 2013 photo contest, with a May 15 deadline.
Work on the next newsletter is under way, with articles emphasizing landscape history in a land conservation context, new federal tax incentives for donations of conservation easements, spring paddling maps and guides of the Royal River, and profiles of local conservation leaders.
