Bath Senior Citizens Center members have their act together and, for the second year, will flash their hidden talents in “Seniors Have Talent?” — a fundraiser for the center — on Saturday.

Millie Ackley, a member of the center’s board of directors, will direct the show for the second time.

“It turned out so well we thought we’d do it again this year,” she said. “I’m hoping for a big turnout.”

On Tuesday morning, fellow cast members and helpers from the center joined Ackley to fold bright yellow programs and go over lastminute details.

Treasurer Bonnie MacDonald said last year the center sold 140 tickets and raised almost $2,000. She hopes they pack the house this year, too.

“If there’s enough people in it and everyone brings their friends and their family, we’re bound to have a good turnout,” she said.

“Plus I always push the free refreshments. They’re free,” she said.

Finger foods like cheese and crackers, cookies and beverages will be served after the show.

For Ackley — who runs a theater program at the center called Basic Players that stages a “regular play” every year in addition to the talent show, “Seniors Have Talent?” — it is as much about getting seniors to strut their stuff as it is about fundraising.

“I’d like to get more seniors involved in getting out,” Ackley said. “You read these obituaries after people die and you find out people had all these talents. It’d be nice to see them before it’s ‘too late’.”

It’s not too late for MacDonald and Willy Bryan of Bath. The duo will perform as “Senior Rappers.”

“Think of words that have to do with being old. It’s all rhyming from there,” Bryan said.

“It’s a comedy skit,” MacDonald said. “I hope.”

Ackley will take the stage in “Maude & Edwina,” a planned comedy routine with Eleanor Grafe. Center president Dick Higgins will sing “Put Another Log on the Fire” with Herman Merkord. Seven more acts, including a piano medley, the Coastal Cloggers and banjo playing, round out the show.

“People want to see us make a fool of ourselves,” Bryan said.

But there are prizes on the table for talent show performers, so it’s not all about seniors being silly.

The audience will vote for their favorite contestants, with $100 awarded to the first place winner, $75 for second and $50 for third.

Refreshments will be served while the votes are being tallied immediately following the show. Winners will be announced and awards will be presented as soon as the results are in.

Cheryl Carver of Phippsburg, who helped with the show last year, is looking forward to being qualified as a senior citizen this time because she gets to help out even more as a member of the center.

“It’s lighthearted and fun. It’s spring and we just want to have a good time with it,” she said.

“What else can you do on a Saturday night for 7 bucks?” Bryan asked.

“Seniors Have Talent?” begins at 4 p.m. at Bath Area Senior Citizen Center, 45 Floral St. Tickets are $7.
