WOOLWICH — The U.S. Route 1 bridge over Maine Eastern Railroad will be reduced to two lanes starting on Monday, March 11.
All wide loads will be required to seek other routes.
The $1.2 million project will rehabilitate the Station 46 Bridge that spans the Maine Eastern Railroad tracks.
The project will continue until mid-August, although traffic will be most affected through mid-June, when crews are scheduled to begin work on the underside of the bridge. Most of the work will take place during the day. Wyman and Simpson Inc. of Richmond is the contractor.
Also, the Donald E. Davey Bridge, which spans the Sheepscot River between Edgecomb and Wiscasset, will see rehab work in April, as Wyman and Simpson replaces the surface and joints.
