For the past few weeks we have been reinstating table tennis and Super Smash Brother tournaments at the Teen Center. It’s nice to see the Ping Pong table finally get some use, and it has been my great pleasure to show our teens a thing or two about the most popular video game from my generation.
It has been a challenging task to find teens interested in our bike-building workshop, but a few students and myself have been making steady progress on our second motor bike.
Several generous town members have continued to provide delicious food for all the teens at the center. In the past few weeks we have been treated to apple crisp and ice cream, homemade tacos, and other delicious food. Thank you so much to all those who continue to support our free food program.
At the end of this week I will be leaving on trip to the West Coast, and my good friend and peer, Jess Everett, will be taking my place for approximately 10 weeks. Jess is a recent graduate of Bowdoin College, and a yoga teacher in the Brunswick area.
Last year Jess and I volunteered as mentors at Rebound, a local program for repeat juvenile offenders. Jess also has experience working with teens as a sea kayak guide with Rippleffect in Portland, an experiential youth development program that brings students on ocean adventures this summer.
We all have confidence that Jess will do an excellent job. (She will introduce herself below.) I have loved my time with the teens and look forward to getting back to them in May!

Special to The Pulse
Hello, Jess here. I am very much looking forward to continuing my work with youth at the Brunswick Teen Center, and so grateful for this opportunity to get involved with a community-building organization.
I have been getting to know the teens for the last few weeks, and am excited to be onboard full-time when the teens return from February break. I hope to carry on with the great programing already happening at the Teen Center, and add some new activities as well.
Great thanks to Mat for all his help during this transition.
¦ Teen of the Month
Our winner for the second time is Devyn McDougall, due to his outstanding contribution to the Teen Center. Devyn is a junior at Brunswick High School, and his biggest passion is working with computers. He has been a huge help at the Teen Center maintaining and fixing the computers we have. He has also been a tremendous help in the whole motorbike experiment.
