BATH — More than 100 members of the volunteer staff at Maine Maritime Museum recently were recognized for their service to the Bath museum in the past year.
Volunteers with a minimum 10 years and 2,000 hours of service were recognized with a new award named for Miles Merry, the Master Builder in the Percy & Small Shipyard when it was in operation from 1894 to 1920.
Awarded the Miles Merry Master Builder Award were Dave Dearborn, Judi Mansfield, Thatcher Pinkham, Jonathan St. Mary, Ken Shepherd, Phil Souza, Bob Trabona, Peter Watson and Bill Bushnell.
Former volunteers who met this standard but who are not currently active, and those honored with the award posthumously, include Bud Guild, Alan Stewart, Renfield Lamphere, Jim McGuiggan, Todd Pool, Jim Rives, John Way and Roy Wheeler.
According to the museum, more than 200 volunteers performed more than 18,000 hours of service in the past year.
“First Year Pins” were presented to 28 volunteers who signed up for volunteer positions with the museum in the past year.
The museum’s volunteer recognition programs are led by Connie Lewis Hooker, of Harpswell.
