Orfant exhibit at Saccarappa gallery

The Saccarappa Art Collective, 861 Main St., is welcoming the new year with an exhibit of oil paintings by award-winning Maine artist Susan Orfant from Friday, Jan. 18, through Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Orfant is best known for her painterly, realistic images of rural and coastal New England, as well as exquisite still-lifes, and flowers that will restore your faith in the coming of spring.

A public opening reception will be from 5-8 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Works by member artists Andy Curran, Sherry Ballou, Mary Brooking, Jody Dube, Jeremy Greene, Caren-Marie Michel, Lucy Ellen Smith, Frank Valliere and Julie Vohs will also be on exhibit.

Gallery hours are noon-6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and noon-7 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

‘Rejoicing spirits’

All are welcome to attend Rejoicing Spirits at Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., Westbrook, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Rejoicing Spirits, a special worship service for persons with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities, includes brief messages with music and singing followed by fellowship and supper.

Wheelchair accessibility and an ASL interpreter provided for the service, which meets on the third Sunday monthly.

Triad to meet

Gorham/Westbrook Triad will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at Mill Brook Estates, 300 East Bridge St.,Westbrook.

Triad is a collaborative effort of senior citizens, law enforcement and community providers that promotes safety and wellbeing of seniors.

Craft night

Highland Lake Grange, corner of Route 302 and Hardy Road, is hosting Community Craft Night at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Those interested can take a craft project to work on for an evening of crafts, creativity and camaraderie.

Westbrook Firefighters Local 340 is sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m.-2 p.m, on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Public Safety Building, 570 Main St., Westbrook.

Donors will receive a voucher for a free pound of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.
