Voters headed to the polls Jan. 15 will have three candidates to choose from to serve less than a year on the Board of Selectmen.
William Thompson, James Trusiani and Jean Wolkens are running to fill the remaining of the term of current Selectman Andrew Mason.
Mason, elected Nov. 6 to represent House District 60 in the Legislature, announced he will resign from the board effective Jan. 15. The winner of the special election will serve a term expiring Nov. 5.
Thompson is a member of the Finance Committee who lost to incumbent Don Russell on Nov. 6 in his first bid for a seat on the Board of Selectmen.
Trusiani served three terms on the board before losing his bid for a fourth term in a close three-way race in November 2011.
Wolkens lost to Mason on Nov. 6 in the race for House District 60.
Town Clerk Ruth Lyons said only these three took out nomination papers, which were due in her office on Dec. 28, 2012.
Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Topsham Fairgrounds exhibition hall on Jan. 15.
