Because of reporting errors, an article in the Nov. 30 edition of The Times Record misrepresented the actions of Harpswell selectmen regarding town-owned property on Hildreth Road.

The town is examining whether to grant a conservation easement to the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust. The proposal is not for a preserve.

The easement is on a portion of Hildreth Road property the town eventually wants to put up for sale and return to the tax rolls. The exact size of the conserved area remains to be defined.

Selectmen did not give their approval to the proposed easement.

The property does not overlook Harpswell Cove.

The easement would not provide any right of the public for recreational use, nor would it prohibit future owners from permitting such use.

Also:

— The town is in the preliminary phase of applying for Community Development Block Grants for the removal of docks and to design and build a town garage.

— Selectmen did not renew a solid-waste agreement with Cassella; it awarded it a one-year contract that previously was held by another vendor.
