ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A former Maine prosecutor who disappeared just hours after an appeals court upheld his child pornography convictions is due in court in New Mexico following his arrest.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Clark in Portland, Maine, says James Cameron was making an initial appearance Monday in Albuquerque following his arrest the day before. Clarke says Cameron will be taken back to Maine by the U.S. Marshals Service after an identity hearing, which could happen as soon as today.
Last month, the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld convictions against Cameron.
Cameron cut off his courtordered electronic monitoring bracelet and drove away from his rented home in Rome, Maine, in the late-night or early-morning hours of Nov. 14 or 15.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
